Life is more convenient now than ever before. With the click of a button, you can have virtually anything delivered right to your doorstep, from piping hot meals to clothes and even groceries. A recent survey found that 70% of Singaporeans order at least one meal through a food delivery service a month while another study revealed how 73% of Singaporean internet users have used online shopping services, spending an average of US$1,000 on consumer goods in 2018.

It is hardly surprising that more and more people are turning to services that offer convenience. After all, Singaporeans work some of the longest hours in the world, often leaving little time to cook elaborate meals, go shopping, or even to visit the doctor’s office. It was reported that one in four people who had health screenings didn’t follow up with their doctor’s appointments, with some saying they were too busy. And these days, with fears of around Covid-19, people are nervous about going to a clinic. But, if you are too busy or hesitant to go to the doctor, what can you do?

Simple — have the doctor come right to you.

One-Stop Platform for Your Medical Needs

When Speedoc started in 2017, we had a simple goal in mind — we wanted to use technology to change the ways in which Singaporeans approach healthcare. But, people often assume we are targeting a younger, more tech-savvy crowd when we talk about technology. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Our convenient healthcare services are meant to provide value to patients of all age groups, from babies to the elderly.

What this means is that regardless of whether you’re caring for your elderly parents or your young children, Speedoc can help make providing for their healthcare needs easier and more convenient.

Caring for your elderly parents

Getting an elderly patient to the clinic to see the doctor can be difficult. Some older patients who struggle with chronic conditions tend to be less mobile. This, coupled with Singapore’s hot and humid weather, makes trips to the clinic tiring and sometimes even stressful. For wheelchair-bound dependents who need to go to the hospital for a checkup, getting a cab can also be difficult.

Instead of struggling with these issues, engaging a house-call service will save you time. Our house-call doctors and nurses are able to provide checkups, nursing care, and even chronic disease management. We also provide on-demand ambulance services that will make it easy to transport wheelchair-bound patients.

But, in addition to convenience, using house-call doctor services also offer long-term value to elderly patients. In the U.S., it was found that using these services help to reduce expensive hospitalisations or readmissions by empowering them to take ownership of their health.

Keeping your children safe and healthy

With your elderly dependents well-taken care of, what about your children? Children’s immune systems are not as strong as an adult’s, which means they tend to fall sick more easily. This includes common symptoms like food poisoning, fever, cold, and more. But, do you really want to be sitting in a waiting room with your sick, fidgety child every time they fall ill? Opting for house-call doctors to treat your child will save you a lot of time in the long run. This is especially useful if you are working, but even if you are a stay-at-home parent, it will allow you to carry out errands while waiting for the doctor to arrive.

Alternatively, if your child’s symptoms are non-emergency but you would like to seek medical advice just to be safe, you could use our telemedicine service. With telemedicine, you and your child will be able to consult with a doctor via in-app video calls and chat! This would work well if you need advice on self-medicating your child for minor conditions.

We also offer vaccination packages so that you can rest assured your child will have all the vaccination shots they need, as required by the Health Promotion Board.

Most importantly, in both instances, we offer follow-up consultations with our doctors through our in-app chat function. This means that you will be able to keep tabs on your child or elderly dependent’s condition and ensure they fully recover without having to make multiple visits to the clinic.

One Account for the Entire Family

If you do not feel comfortable with going to a clinic right now, you can still consult one of our doctors remotely using our telemedicine service. Family members who might be visiting from abroad can also make use of this service for acute conditions (like diarrhoea or gastric issues), medicine refills for chronic conditions and more. Only one Speedoc account is needed to give all your family members access to quality medical care.

For instance, if your parents are not living with you, you can send a doctor or nurse to their home through your Speedoc account. Your parents need not download the app or make any phone calls – they simply have to wait for the doctor to arrive at their door within an hour. Every booking you make, regardless of which family member it was for, is recorded in the app as well, so you can keep track of when you last saw a Speedoc doctor and which doctor attended to you.

You can also use the in-app chat feature to discuss your follow-up concerns with your doctor or request a physical consultation at home after a teleconsultation.

Managing Your Family’s Medical History with Ease

Keeping good and comprehensive medical records is very important in healthcare. It allows doctors to give the highest quality of care to patients by using past records to detect any patterns in symptoms, keep track of medicines, and more. Similarly, when you have a Speedoc account, our doctors will be able to easily save your data and medical records so that it can be reviewed later on if necessary. This applies to your children as well as your elderly dependents as well.

What this means is that during our doctor visits or checkups, there will be less of a burden on you as a caregiver to provide a comprehensive medical history because we would already have it on file. Even better, our doctors also have access to the National Electronic Health Record (NEHR), which houses medical records from public hospitals and polyclinics.
